Visions of home and beyond: staying connected to the world
GETTING THERE WITHOUT A CAR
The photographs in this exhibit are part of a collection, GETTING THERE WITHOUT A CAR, pictures that document a story of transportation in the USA and abroad. In the 21st century we are familiar with the terms of climate change and our role in making the world and the future, safer, healthier and sustainable for our children and the generations to follow. These photos represent a few of the many alternatives that are in use now, classic examples of the past or a peek into the future. You can use your imagination to think of different types of energy that might produce less pollution, traffic, and burden on our resources. What does each mode of transportation cost our families, our cities, nations and planet? Are our towns and cities walker-friendly, do we live near services and schools that make commutes short and productive? How can we measure sustainability?
